Welcome to the Worst Day on the Sports Calendar

The day after the MLB All-Star Game: for sports fans, that means the deadest day on the calendar. Given that there are no sporting events of any consequence today, I'm sensing that I'll get a chance to finish The Assault On Reason tonight. So DudeSpin fans, look for another Better Know review coming shortly!

But don't forget it's the opening of free agent signing in the NBA, a day before I re-up for season tickets for next year.
Unfortunately, even though Vegas odds currently list the top three in the West as the three favorites to win next year's title, the prospects for players the Mavs may sign are alarming. Marc Stein reports that Chris Webber either wants to stay with Detroit, come to Dallas, or retire. And someone else reported today that with Steve Francis being bought out, he's considering either the Clippers or Mavs.
I should hope both rumors are wrong.
