Doesn't Romo look like the combination of Brett Favre and Troy Aikman in that photo. "Go Dallas Cowboys! go Cowboy team! We're here to cheer you on your way with a great big yippee-ai-ay! Show 'em Dallas Cowboys, you're really booming on the beam. The eyes of Texas are upon you, Dallas Cowboy team!"
Funny, I know the old Houston Oilers tune much better than the one the Dude concocted. Here comes...the Hous-ton Oillll-ers, the Hous-ton Oillll-ers, the Hous-ton Oillll-ers.
Today's inactives -- everyone may talk about the Pats not having Maroney if they lose, but don't lose sight of the Cowboys being without their starting CB and deep threat on offense. At least Keith Davis is back.PATRIOTS: 3QB Matt Gutierrez, S Mel Mitchell, S Rashad Baker, Maroney, OT Wesley Britt, G Billy Yates, DL Santonio Thomas, DE Kareem BrownCOWBOYS: S Courtney Brown, CB Anthony Henry, FB Oliver Hoyte, G Joe Berger, OT Doug Free, OT James Marten, WR Terry Glenn, WR Isaian Stanback
uh.. the Boys have been without Terry Glenn all season...also, my opponent this week has Adrian Peterson, so any performance from Romo+TO may be for naught
What makes you think I wasn't referring to Isiah Stanback?
sadly, CBS has not started to show the Cowboys game because the Texans are still trying to run plays down big in the 4th quarter... boooooo!!!
Yeah, nice TD for Houston. We just switched over. As usual, a mediocre return by Tyson THompson.
Again, as usual, the Cowboys go nowhere on their first drive. Julius Jones manages to lower his 3 yards per carry average.
I bet you the Hoodie stole the Cowboys signs that said they were going to run Jones into the middle of the line on the 1st drive; oh wait, or they could have just been watching film.
First break of the game to Dallas -- should've been a 74-yard TD pass.
Also, Morris has played well in relief of Morris... So not having Maroney is really inconsequential
what should have been a 70+ TD? the coverage flipped over on 2nd and ten, so i'm guessing it was the 1st play.
Yeah, Brady faked a handoff and then faked a reverse, and then had Moss 5 yards behind coverage deep downfield but Brady missed him by 5 yards.
If the Pats are going to put just one guy on Ware, he's got to get pressure on Brady. He was single-teamed on third down and couldn't beat his guy.
Why did Ellis drop back into coverage on 3rd and 7 instead of rush? When you don't put a guy in Brady's face, he's clinical.
Big 3d down conversion to Welker, can't leave him with a backer one on one.
Brady misfired on that pass to Faulk as well, that could have been 6; where is Franchise?
Well, an 81 has scored in this game... terrible coverage
I guess all the hopeful talk of the success Phillips has had against Brady and Moss in the past didn't bear much fruit on that drive.
I wanted to let you know my laptop internet service is down, so I can only post from a romm with no TV. That means I can only comment during commercial breaks. Luckily, at the rate Moss is scoring, I'll be able to post often.
I bet if Undude paid for his laptop internet service, he wouldn't have these problems.
Awesome -- 2-yard loss, dropped pass, sack.
Boy, the Cowboys offense has looked pretty sensational on these 1st two drives
I don't understand why Garrett is so aggressive in play calling in the second half and yet insists on trying to establish the run on the first few drives. Unless you're going to start MBIII, it's not going to work!
Even the sacks aren't looking pretty right now, but we'll take it.
Huge drive coming up for Romo -- he looked pretty tentative and unemotional the first two drives.
It's the same issue with Airborne.... They look terrible when they try to establish the run. You have a big play receiver and a QB who can get Riley the ball - attack it!!
How did the refs miss that egregious false start by the Cowboys left guard
Interesting early decision -- MBIII has never come in this quickly, but definitely the right call.Another sailing Romo pass on second down.
The receivers are not doing Romo any favors - what was that Crayton?
Good to see the former Dukie Benjamin Watson making plays - even if it for the Evil Empire
Damn Brady squeezed that in. If Roy had looked up, he could've tipped the ball but it came in too quick.
You get the feeling Brady is off, at least by his standards? He's thrown a few bullets, but a few easy passes he couldn't connect.
Wow... Nice coverage there... I got it; you got it; no we don't
Simms was right -- you have one guy cover the inside, the other cover the outside, and no one has him deep. A little pressure on the QB would've made it a lot harder.
Is Kate Hudson dating Bob Kraft?
Kate Hudson? That slut was in the Warriors' locker room after they beat the Mavs in Game 6.
Julius Jones is a preppy Irish alum. MBIII is a street fighter who works for every extra yard he can get.
Julius Jones is fixing to see his alma mater lose to Duke in a few weeks
That's right Cheatroits!!! Stop cheating by personal fouling!
That was a lucky flag -- Columbo tripped over a Patriot on that or it wouldn't have been a penalty.
Why is Julius Jones still starting? it's one of the mysteries in life
This game could force a change. It's Barber's chance to show that he can stay fresh a whole game and not just 10-15 carries.
Still a good drive even settling for 3. It let the defense rest a little and Romo looked much sharper with MBIII giving him 2nd and 5 instead of 2nd and 12. That said, another New England TD renders a "good drive" useless.
That penalty was killer - down 2 TDs, you can't give them 3d down conversions!
Huge play for Dallas!!
The stars at night, are big and bright.Clap CLap Clap ClapDeep in the heart of Tex-as!!!
That's why Greg Ellis should be rushing the quarterback and not dropping back into coverage.Gotta keep the pressure coming.
The Cheatriots strike again with a holding!
This would be a big stop here in Dallas can get it
That's a ton of yards on a 2nd and long...
2d bad offsides in about 2 drives; and that's a conversion of a 2nd and 20.
Ellis was offsides on the last drive and made up for it. Let's see if Makins does the same here.
James Jett.... That's blast from the past!!
Big 3rd and 9 coming up. The Cheatriots can't rely on an offsides to bail them out this time!
Wow... that 3d and long conversion didn't even look difficult.and Bum is in the house!!
Another stoppage in play before a third down. The Cowboys have had the ball for 8:40 -- that seems generous.
It's offside mania!!
At least Roy got in his lick on Watson, even if it didn't count.
The Cowboys D has been on the field for way too long!
Tyson Thompson needs to take a knee EVERY time.
Cowboys are killing themselves with penalties in the 1st half... geez!
Yep, they should be down at the Pats' 40. This looks more like last year's team in their discipline.
Certainly looks like one team came to play, and the other team did not.
Not sure if I'd go that far -- a few more passes and it's a four-point game.
If it weren't for all the penalties, we might be winning the game!
From the Morning News:Just announced in the press box that New England TE Ben Watson's return is questionable. He went to the locker room with an ankle injury, courtesy of Roy Williams.
It seems that the right result here would be to award TO the catch.
I can't say I entirely understand the push-out rule, but there's still plenty of time to score.
TO! TD! TO! TD! TO! TD! TO! TD! TO! TD! TO! TD! TO! TD! TO! TD! TO! TD! TO! TD! TO! TD! TO! TD! TO! TD! TO! TD!
Romo threw for 110 yards on that drive, with all the penalties opening the field! Now we just can't let them come back and get 3.
I thought it was a dangerous throw off his hand, but I loved that drive -- Witten is beating Rodney Harrison downfield, the sidelines are open to Crayton, and TO is outplaying Moss.
Was Romo trying to chest bump Mike Carey there?
Halftime is coming at an inopportune time. Romo can't wait to get back out there -- he knows we're a second-half team.I'm feeling pretty okay all things considered.
The offense just clicks when they open it up! It's not that hard to figure out Jason Garrett...
The Pats' first drive is enormous. If we can get a stop, our chances to win start to approach 50-50.
Before the Dude becomes too big a Cowboy fan, a certain someone got his Hall of Fame ring at halftime:Michael Irvin's speech after getting his Hall of Fame ring was short and sweet. He ended up by demanding that the Texas Stadium crowd get crunk and loud for the second half."You let the world know that the glory days are back in Dallas, Texas!!!" he hollered. "Thank you!!"It worked for about a minute. You could hear a pin drop right now.
Here we.... Here's hoping for fewer offsides!
Good start -- pressure on Brady forces a bad pass.
A three and out would be huge.
Uh oh... Losing Morris would be tough since they're already working without Maroney
We're starting to knock dudes out -- Watson, Morris...
Must've been pretty sweet coverage to bring Brady down on that play!
Another "Oops, I didn't really mean to sack you" play, but we'll take it!
BTW Head Dude, book the destination of the Larry O'Brien for trophy next June. From watching 2 preseason games, I can say that we are a head and shoulders above every team in the West (and also the Association)
I meant, of course, book the trophy for Houston.
Hobbs almost jumped the route and had a pick-six on that one.Julius!!!!
Do my eyes deceive me, or did Julius Jones break off a run!!
We've just been talking about how great that Julius guy is.
As Julius dives into the line - I thought: that's the Julius I know!
3rd and 4 -- I'd look for Witten down the middle.
Or Crayton on an out.Nobody throws better than Romo when he's rolling right.
And we go in front!!! nice play action there... I foresee a good ole fashioned Texas shootout!!
Look at Rodney Harrison whine.Boo hoo, Rodney, boo hoo.
Well, we don't have to worry about their running game, so you can afford to bring 5 or 6 on a blitz and still be able to cover.
The Cheatriots are back on the field with a holding!
But forcing the Cheatriots to go to their air isn't necessarily a good thing; they do have a decent QB... who cheats on his girlfriend, incidentally
Not that the leader of the Cheatriots cheating on his relationships should surprise you
That Faulk run reminded me of the Giants' game -- no running game left and yet the third-string guy picks up 8 a pop.
Man, of all the receiving options on that team, the white guy keeps beating us.
Is it me, or does Texas Stadium sound eerily quiet?
No, this telecast just isn't picking up the crowd noise. After seeing a home game against the REdskins last year, I can assure you it's a barn inside there right now. At least I hope so.
I wonder what the Cheatriots' conversion rate on 3d down is? It's got to be at least 70%!
9 of 12
That's terrible -- the players just collided. SHouldn't be passing interference.
That's a tough penalty to take; but probably the right call
Watkins got to the spot first -- it was the wrong call.DAMN.
I mean, that fake dive and float to the TE play works 100% of the time!
That was our best kickoff return all afternoon.
That, however, was a good call. You could see that holding develop for about three seconds.
I like the "half the distance to the goal" call on a 10 yard penalty when the ball is at the 20... awesome
That was the best 1 yard run I've ever seen (MBIII)
Yeah, but it's looking like a three and out.
That was a dangerous floater there by Romo; not sure what he was thinking
Our special teams coverage is abyssmal. Momentum has shifted.
"being consulted by another one" - this could be a big call by the zebras!
I think that's a catch for a TD... wasted challenge
He bobbled, and it hit the ground -- no catch.
On 2d thought, it's a closer challenge than initial appearances, that 1st bobble is the key...
It's cliche, but another huge third down.
Well, a must score drive here for Dallas coming up; our D hasn't shown any ability to stop the NE offense
Yep, gotta at least put up three here and rest the defense.Good start with MBIII -- I love watching him scrap with linebackers.
I love MBIII's running style - he takes would-be tacklers head on!!
These penalties are debilitating.
That illegal shift penalty is looming pretty large if we can't convert here.
4th and 1 -- do you go for it? Wade did against the Bears.
Wow. I would be surprised if we go for it on 4th down here.
I say give it a shot -- this may be our best chance left in the game with a chance to tie, so why give it back to them and watch them drive and put the game away.
Wow -- penalties are becoming the story of the game.
What a lucky break for Dallas on the fumble recovery... But alas, now for the punt away!
At least the Pats can't run the clock much on the ground, since they don't have a running game.
Wow... Where have you gone Everson Walls?
That's why you go for it on fourth down.
Like I said, Tyson Thompson is always a threat to go the distance.
Wow, a rare decent return from Tyson Thompson!
I don't like going for the FG here. I would have thought that going for it would be an easy call..
Our special teams is horrible? why fake the onside kick???
I'm not sure on the FG -- if you miss it, the game's over, whereas now you can possibly get a FG and TD. But chances are we can't stop them, and it won't matter.
The injury didn't look that back. You know, thinking back, was the bump against Sam Hurd on third and goal any less egregious than the one against Moss when he ran into Watkins?
I guess that's what we call a loser's lament.
Hate to say it; but it does not look good for our Boys.
The defense is worn out -- of all the penalties, that one that wiped out Barber's 4th and 1 carry may have been fatal. We had to punt and the defense didn't get to rest.
Well that sucked.
Seriously... What a let-down... but of course, we can relish in that the Cheatriots probably cheated to get the win
Look at it this way, if they take care of business at home against Minnesota next week, they're 6-1 heading into the bye, with two weeks to get ready for games against the Eagles and Redskins and a chance to put away the division. And you come away feeling that New England is better, but not that much better, and if we're lucky enough to play them again, with a healthy Henry, you roll the dice one more time.
well that touchdown was somewhat unnecessary!!
Um, isn't that what you call running up the score?
Not only do they cheat, but they are also bad sports
Wade gave Belichek one mighty cold shoulder after the game -- no need to shake the hands of someone with no class.
