That's no sure thing dude. As obvious as such a move to endorse Obama may seem, Edwards is out for one thing -- himself. So whichever candidate makes him a better deal, most pundits suspect that's where he'll go. As Jeff Greenfield said this morning, it's hard to tell where his supporters go. On the one hand, they could go to the other "change" candidate, on the other hand, white males, Edwards' biggest constituency, could go to the more experienced candidate.I think it's a bad sign he didn't hang in for a while longer and then throw his delegates to Obama. That's why I think he may have cut a deal with Clinton to either endorse her eventually or just sit it out and not take 15% of the delegates to the convention.
Yeah I admit to being a little surprised by his move. I too worry about a backroom deal. After all wasn't there a "conspiracy theory" report that had the two of them (him and Clinton) meeting in the Green Room after a debate about a week back?Big Daddy
Yeah, that backdoor meeting was curious, even if Edwards' people later claimed Edwards does that with Obama too.
In a "not-good" case scenario (a worse case scenario is Bush ripping up the Constitution and declaring himself king) do you think if Hilary gets the nod, she'd name Edwards as her running mate?
Sorry that was meBig Daddy
I've wondered the same -- maybe that was the deal. I certainly hope not, but I wouldn't be floored if we found that out. Which of course would make beating them both all the more delicious. And losing all the more miserable.
I'm trying to get used to the phrase "President McCain" but it just doesn't sound right. I want to believe we're going to avoid that but it sure seems with each passing day we're getting closer to it...
