Cut-ting out early?

Following up on a previous post...
Phil Fulmer is out at Tennessee. Coach Cut will surely be mentioned as a potential replacement, and it seems impossible to imagine someone choosing Duke over Tenn.

Over at Wake, Jim Grobe has turned down some offers, but only after he had established ties to the Wake community. Coach Cut just got here, so it seems unlikely he's already fallen in love with Durham.

Fans, start sending the pleading emails...

And Undude, if everyone has the sour attitude that you have, there's no reason for Cut to stick around. I, however, assume he's not ready so quickly to BACK OFF. And I suggest you BACK DUKE and remember the positives the program offers.

Last month you said: "if it's his dream job (and we don't know if that's the case), then you can't fault him for taking it whenever it comes open."

I hope that he sees the chance to do something special at Duke is worth more than returning to the SEC under incredible pressure. But I think one must also take a realistic look at things and say this would be a tough job to turn down.

I have not backed off... My post was merely stating that there is a chance Cut would be tempted to back off. But I, like you, hope he has some goals he would like to accomplish here in Durham before considering a move elsewhere.

Let's face it: some coaches are better suited to be program-builders, while others are better off seeking a higher level of football as quickly as possible. We don't know which one Cut is - maybe no one knows but him. It just seems like it would be hard to ignore a program like Tennessee if they really wanted you.

I agree with you both, I just like poking at the biggest fan among us every now and then.
