Journey Reunion

The actual Journey team held its 10th anniversary reunion at halftime of the present day Journey's destruction of Georgia Tech today. Invitations for the Franchise and me must have gotten lost in the mail!

Besides bringing back a flood of great memories, reading that article reminded me how deep that Journey team was. There were probably eight different players who could go for double digits on any given night.

It's funny how you look at the current players, and because you don't know them, they just look like normal college students. But then you look back at players you did know, and they look so young now. Definitely some names I hadn't seen in 10 years.

and all of them could have gone for double figures against the Chronicle team! I remembered that I was checking Nicole Erickson - and she could have gone for triple figures against me.

The first time I went for a rebound in the Chronicle game, one of the assistant coaches put a hard elbow right in my chest. Right then I knew it wasn't going to be pretty...

I just remember that I proposed a Chronicle vs Journey game that year (98 my last year) and talked serious smack about it to Erickson and got nothing but some excuse about how Coach G wouldn't go for it. Then the very next year after I graduate I hear about how you guys had a game??? Clearly they knew they could not check me channeling my inner Ricky.

I suppose it makes sense, me going for 50 with the constant taunt of
"WHAT TIME IS IT" probably would have been too demoralizing and would have ruined any chance that team had of doing anything.

P.S My gosh...I had forgotten all about Krista Gingrich...indeed that did bring back some memories.

To me, the greatest Chronicle Sports Event "what if" will always be "What if Big Daddy had been able to arrange a mini-golf match between the staff and Jenny C?"

The intensity of such an outing, in a sport the dudes hold so dear, at that time in Jenny's career, would have been nothing short of extraordinary.

Oh I had almost forgot about that one. Man I feel like I should do like our former president, give a farewell address, and talk about some of my "biggest regrets" from my time in office.

Though it won't have the same feel, this year I believe will be Jenny C's 10 year reunion. If she's around maybe "we" can coax her into a mini-golf match up with the Undude?

The odds of Undude choking in that situation? About 100%.
