Jason Sehorn is the color guy; and we find out Army runs the triple option. Terrific practice for Airborne in advance of its game against Georgia Tech.
Boyette on the first carry - Duke apparently brought the rushing offense of last week with them to West Point.
Duke catches a break with a late hit on Thad Lewis gives Airborne a first down near midfield after Connor Vernon had a case of the droppsies
Uh oh - pressure swarms Duke O-Line on third down - and Duke is forced to punt; and a terrible one at that.
great rush defense by Airborne on 1st down, giving up only 55 yards on an off-tackle run.
and vast improvement on second down - giving up only 13 yards.
the same counter play that sprang for 55 yards, gets Army down near the goalline for a 3rd and inches.
QB Keeper for 6 - Duke's run defense looks absolutely confuzzled.
a quick out and a nice run up the middle has Duke moving the ball - but 2 injuries to offensive lineman on the same play spells potential disaster for Airborne.
apparently the other injury was to Hollingsworth.
a false start by Holt - but great leadership by Thad Lewis, slapping him a high five after the play. Duke looking to move the pocket with the inexperienced line, getting Thad on a roll-out. On 3rd down - Lewis almost gets picked, forcing Duke to punt again.
a halfback pitch goes nowhere as Leon Wright stays on the receiver; Duke does a better job defending the pitch, as even the cameraman got fooled on the handoff to the upback. 3rd and 16, and the QB gets buried - Army is not equipped to convert 3rd and longs.
Lewis has time on second down, and has to scramble to get back to the line; another rollout on 3rd down, Thad underthrows Varner on 3rd down, and Duke has to punt again - another terrible punt from Duke, 25yds. Special teams is not exactly a strongsuit for Airborne.
stingy run defense on 1st and 3d downs gets Duke another forced punt - looks like the D has settled down, now Thad must convert.
a stuffed run on 1st down, a blown read option for Thad on second down, an offsides penalty on 3rd down gets Duke a do-over, which they convert thanks to a pass interference call.
Then Thad fumbles on the option, giving army the ball in Duke territory.
Our Heisman candidate is looking awful so far as the 1st quarter comes to a close.
Duke holds and forces Army into a 43yd FG attempt, which is right through the uprights - why can't Airborne find kickers like that?
A huge seam springs Connor Vernon for a huge return to the Army 30, sets up Thad with a short field.
Jay Hollingsworth returns to the lineup and rumbles up the middle for 5 on 1st down.
Hollingsworth then fumbles on 2nd down, and it certainly looks like he was down on replay however. And now we will pause for a replay challenge.
ruling is upheld on the replay - disappointing.
Duke gets the ball right back, forcing a fumble and getting the ball back on the 28!
Requan Boyette rumbles up the middle to the 11. Haha! the PBP guy just mentioned people that made the trip up from Durham. Dubious. More like the transplants coming down from NYC.
Duke tries to get cute with a pitch, Boyette reverses field and gets smothered - setting up a big third down.
Thad throws it up in the corner, and it sails on him, setting up a 28 yd FG, which is wide left. Duke's special teams is absolutely atrocious.
A huge screen play to Boyette, and then a fake WR screen + double move from Vernon gets Thad and Duke on the board for 6 and the PAT!
It looks like Duke has made some plays on defense; and is turning things around on offense.
silly facemask on Hatcher gives the Black Knights a first down. Duke is hoping to get one more stop before the half.
Army moving the chains with some bread and butter triple option plays - doesn't look like Duke will have time to take the lead before the half - but must still stop the black knights.
1st and 10 for Army at the Duke 14 - this will be a big possession here.
QB Keeper to the 6 - looks like Army is going to be moving the chains again - and they get the ball 1st in the second half.
a stuff on 2nd down brings up a huge 3d down and 4 or so. With Army out of time outs, this may be the last offensive play of the half for Army
QB bootleg gets Steeleman only 2, and the middies have to go for a FG - which boinks off the right upright, no good.
considering the way the half started - going into halftime down only 3 is a small victory for the Blue Devils - see you in the 2nd half!

WR screen on 1st down falls incomplete. Thad has not been accurate thus far today. Boyette trucks up the middle for 3 on 2nd down to set up a third and long.

Johnny Williams took a shot on the punt return, but looks to be okay.
Boyette scampers up the middle for a 1st down as K continues to yak it up in the booth. Thad airs it out for the 1st time, and overthrows Vernon on the sidelines
Lewis gets hit hard on 2nd down and throws incomplete, sets up a third down as Duke's woes on the O-line continues.
Lewis rifles one over the middle and it is dropped by Vernon - who's slow to get up.
big fumble by Army on a missed exchange gives it up to Duke deep in Army territory! time to make hay!
Shawn Renfree replaces Thad at QB!! Wow!
Renfree finds TE Brett Huffman on a reverse rollout for a TD!!! and the Devils take the lead!
Thad Lewis is 5-16 so far - not sure what Cutfliffe is doing - but Renfree has an incredible QB rating right now. 1-1 for about 18 yds and a TD.
Army passes!! 21 yd gain over the middle.
wow - Army has a 6-10 guy at WR who was an OT last season. nice flexibility.

Renfree stays in at QB, and finds Austin Kelly on a slant for 20. Interesting moves by Cutcliffe - as it doesn't appear that Thad is hurt.
Renfree finds Boyette again on the screen, but the big gain is wiped out in part by a block in the back, setting up a second and seven.
Renfree finds Williams on a big third down out for a big conversion - are we seeing a changing of the guard?
after an incomplete on a route mix-up, Renfree finds Kelly again on a hook. move those chains!
Wow! Lightning strikes at Michie Stadium as Shawn Renfree finds Varner again wide open for a TD down the sidelines!
21-13 at the start of the 4th quarter - the defense has been solid - and it must persevere for one more quarter!
Army is now moving the chains methodically - they would need a score and a deuce to tie this up - with their offense, they won't have too many more chances.

Boyette trucks up the middle for 3, sets up a 4th and 5 at the 35, and Duke will probably punt here.

Leon Wright with the pick 6!! This game's over!!! Duke goes to 1-0 against Division 1A teams.
Now the question becomes - who will start for Duke next week at Kansas.

The final score will be deceptive - as Duke prevails easily in a game that was close deep into the 4th quarter.
Army is putting together a nice 2 minute drive, has the ball inside the Duke 10 as we line up for the final play!
the fade to the 6-10 WR falls incomplete, and we NOW line-up for the final play.
TD! as the 6-10 WR hauls it in at the buzzer!! Final Score - Duke 35, Army 19.
Thanks Dude for the one man liveblog. I being poor (but also away) didn't get a chance to see the game but felt like I was right there with the excellent running commentary and PBP.
